Ross Griswold is a singer and guitarist based in New Brunswick, New Jersey, who has been working steadily in the central NJ music scene for 10 years. His resonant voice and precise guitar work allow him to do justice to a wide range of songs, from popular standards to “diamond in the rough” songs that listeners rarely get a chance to hear live.
Ross currently works as a solo acoustic artist as well as frontman for Ross Griswold & The Second Line, a 6 piece New Orleans/Soul/Funk/R&B band that has been working at top venues in New Jersey since its founding in May of 2016. The Second Line is mix of highly talented musicians, some with extensive touring histories, all of whom share a deep enjoyment for grooves that get people moving. The band has been a hit at parties, weddings, wineries, and some top quality bars in and out of the state.
In 2015, Ross fulfilled a longtime dream by releasing a “solo” album entitled Graywood. Though the album was conceived as a solo venture, it quickly went the way of many of Ross’s musical ventures, and wound up including an extensive cast of incredibly talented local musicians and friends. The album drifts through multiple genres and includes multiple instrumental tracks. Graywood can be found for free download here (put $0 in the price box).
Ross was a founding member of the band Root Glen, and toured the Northeast US with the band, from Portland, Maine to Washington, DC between 2009 and 2014. The band released 20 groove-centric songs as part of a year long project in which they put out a 5 song EP for each season, all of which can be found for free download on Root Glen’s Bandcamp site. If someone would go ahead and start some rumors about a reunion show, maybe they’d have one!
